Madeira

Madeira, Funchal, 04/09/2014 to 08/09/2014

Not a bad 3 and a half hour flight time spent as always in the middle of the plane sitting on a wing with no view and a screaming baby for company.

We jumped on the Areobus that took us directly into the city, what a view from the top as you approach too! Weather hits you pretty bad when walking into the day light sun, just what i needed!

As for the hotel, what a gorgeous place to call home for four nights. Very well maintained, some stunning views wherever you walked, friendly staff and all the amenities you could ask for.
They are very serious about looking after the environment here, separate bins for different waste, do we really need to wash your towel every day? although the showers are not limited to how much water a guest can use!

1st time using the self passport scanner, defiantly still a human role over a computer, too many idiots going through and not reading the signs properly.

There was plenty to do, I particularly liked the cable car ride to the top of the city, monte. With a stunning yet short walk around a corner to jump on a wooden toboggan, where you are dragged down the hills for 2km by two men dresses in white with funny hats. The CR7 museum was also really good, tonnes of medals, photographs and hat trick footballs, all confirming who the best player in the world is, Cristiano Ronaldo. Also on offer are day trips around the island, wine tasting sessions and loads of boat trips on offer with Funchal being a harbour town to.

Food was fantastic, although nothing regional, national to scream about. Although there national cake and wine where exceptionally good. Night life, there wasn't any, this is a place for the older at heart to come and unwind and chill away from the youths of today.

Fantastic time away, some photos below for you all.

Sandwich

Sandwich, Kent, UK 7/08/2014

What a lovely place, friendly people, very historic, lots to see not a lot to do, but somewhere you should at least stay the night.

Enjoy the pics, and yes the weather was awful for the time of year we stayed!

The Shard

The Shard, visited 29/08/2014

Well worth the visit, shame about the extravagant cost! Its just something you have to go and see.

Enjoy what I thought were the best bits, including  the toilet and men hard at work cleaning all those window panes! what a painful job.

Tattoo 2014

Not the tattoo I had originally planned, that one is currently with an artist... This is a crucifix with a sword running down and two wings either side at the top. To me this represents power, honour and pride. I wasn't too sure as it was being done, scary thought!, but after a couple of days I think it's a great little addition.

Once upon a time

Once upon a time in Budapest... Whilst sailing along the river Danube on board one of the cities river cruises. What a lovely little reminder to dream and to think what to do next. Photographed while on holiday, photoshopped with black and white effect, changing text to black and copping image.

Brussels

Brussels

New Year 2013

Sorry this one is a little late, I haven't been on the blogging thing for a while and its taken me a little while to get back into things.

Brussels was lovely, a small London, somewhere you could see within a day. There wasn't much to do to be honest, but it was more about the experience and seeing somewhere new.

We travelled via Eurostar, the best way to get here, didn't take very long and it was on and off in one stop. Although I dont think I could manage the 9 hours it would take to get from Ebslfeet to Berlin! Long.

Enjoy the photographs!

1st To Die

Written by James Patterson, this is the second paper back of his I have read. Like the 1st I was thoroughly entertained throughout. Lots of twists, a great story line, characters you could relate to. He also has this fantastic ability to perfectly describe an event, on the three or four, could be five occasions the police investigate a murder. They are each explained in perfect and terrifying precision. Another thing I liked about this book was its ability to keep you entertained, the chapters were short, to the point and each flowed very well from the next. A definite recommend and onto my next Monday night read!

The reading is also getting faster, the first book took about 3 or 4 months to finish, this one barley took 2. Very impressed, peeling myself away from the TV and better spending my evenings doing something to better me!

The Wolf of Wall Street

An Absolute Classic, 5 Stars!

Thoroughly enjoyed all the way through, a little too long though.... but you never found yourself waiting for the next funny bit. Some truly unforgettable scenes, moments I will be re-acting and discussing with friends for a very long time. I would be very happy to see it again at the cinema, but I cannot wait to add it to my DVD collection. An extremely cool film, Leonardo was the perfect choice of lead and Jonah Hill was a perfect second, they worked so well off one another. An extremely over the top film, So many drugs, so many woman and so many parties! Man they know how to party, I wonder how many people walked out of this film and want to become stock brokers......

An extremely amazing time, 3 hours well spent, well used and time I will find hard to forget. Go watch this, its not one you should miss.
