After Earth

After Earth

16/11/2913

Will the new Will Smith please stand up...

Not the best Will Smith film, he was hardly in it. Instead the action scenes where left to his son, Jaden, where we are so used to seeing Will perform. Guided by his super star dad through the lost future world of Earth, Jaden has to navigate through the dangerous planet where everything has evolved to kill humans.

Visually stunning, with some very clever use of potential future technology.

World War Z

World War Z

01/11/2013

Brad finds the way....

People told me this had no sol, they were not wrong... Thousands and thousands of 'un-dead' chasing the living like their life depended on it. World War Z was certainly not boring like some warned me, it kept me entertained throughout. The intensity in which the living are chased is immense. A great addition to the zombie genre, a differently clever version of a world apocalypse... I would defiantly watch this again. Fantastic.

Superman Man of Steel

I now know what Superman is all about and I have this Christopher Nolan version to thank for it. The style that brought the batman back to life has worked the same magic on another lost hero. It told the story of the man of steel in such a better way then ever before, Henry Cavil was a fantastic choice to feel that tight blue suit. The fighting went on a little longer then was needed but other than that this is a great movie. Lets just see if he can do another dark knight for the 2nd film.

Cowboys Vs Alien

Intrigued by its title and surprised to here Daniel Craig was staring. I liked it, although Craig's cowboy voice was a little strange, bit like the concept of this film.

Total Recall (2012)

Some great views and concepts of the soon to be future. A phone inside your hand, hold it up onto glass and a display appears. An exciting start is finished with a boring and dull ending. Not sure if Farrell was the best choice actor and does Kate beckonsale keep getting better looking with age!!!

Dredd

Not as good as the original, the story just lacked depth. That said, this is a very cool film, with a very good choice of judge dredd (Kurl Urban). Brilliant voice over to set the mood of the film supported with some great cinematic shots.

Thor

God of thunder. Brilliant, My favourite super hero movie by far. A weapon of pure power and destruction. Only the mighty Thor can use. Bring on the 2nd story!!

The best Jason statham esc film I have seen ever since he took that big acting step in snatch. A very hard hitting macho performance.

Captain America. The First Avenger.

Watched. Weds 13th February.
Rating. 3.5

A really good story. Small and week boy gets transformed into the ultimate soldier, bigger, faster, stronger. Another great Marvel film and an excellent super hero anyone would be proud off. Bring on the next adventure.

Explaining

The beginnings of an explanation as to how these disgusting creatures made the 1st 4 alien films. A great story from yet another brilliant Ridley Scott epic. Well worth watching for any aliens fan, but I'm sure you already knew this.

Watchable

Judging by the title I was expecting a little more killing. A hitman is hired to kill a families mum and collect her insurance money. Its all goes wrong and the hitman ( Matthew Mcconaughey ) takes the families 12 year old daughter as payment. very strange. but all set in a red neck town in Texas, which may explain things.
